When your twenty-something daughter asks about running the New York City Marathon, the typical response from a fifty-something father is, "Good luck—I’ll support you every step of the way."

Instead, I said, "Let’s do it together."

The New York City Marathon is a true bucket-list race and an opportunity I never imagined I'd have. Thanks to Fred's Team, the official running program of Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, Sydney and I will have the privilege of running this November.

Five years ago, my wife, Suzanne, was diagnosed with invasive lobular breast cancer (ILC). Thanks to groundbreaking research and outstanding care, she is doing well today. Because ILC can be difficult to detect on standard imaging, continued research is critical to developing better diagnostics and improving outcomes for patients.

In Suzanne's honor, and for everyone affected by breast cancer, Sydney and I are each raising $4,500 for Memorial Sloan Kettering's lifesaving research. We would be truly grateful for any support as we take on 26.2 miles through New York City.
