Fourteen years ago, my mom Nancy was diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer at just 39 years old. Thanks to her treatment at Memorial Sloan Kettering, she beat it, and was able to go on to never miss a game throughout my entire collegiate field hockey career.

Memorial Sloan Kettering has also supported my aunt Kristen during her treatment against synovial cell sarcoma, allowing her to continue to make everyone around her laugh, and show up as a great mom to her kids.

MSK doesn't just offer world-class treatment, they make sure their patients are cared for as a whole person, supporting them mentally and emotionally as they face the biggest challenge of their lives.

Running 26.2 miles is hard. But it's nothing compared to what my mom and aunt have faced, and continue to face, with grace and courage of which I'll never stop being in awe. Running the NYC Marathon is my way of honoring them and showing them that their strength has taught me to do hard things, even when hard things feel impossible.

Fred's Team is where I want to put that effort. With 100% of proceeds going directly to cancer research, and a deep connection to the institution that has meant so much to my family, there's no other place I'd rather run for on race day. 🩷💛
