Splash for Sloan 2023
My grandpa, Paul Epstein, taught me everything I know about swimming. He swam for Columbia High School in Maplewood, N.J. and Rutgers University. Paul was also a scuba diver, swim instructor, triathlete and swam the lakes of the Berkshires every day he could. One of my fondest memories of my grandfather is when I was only 10 years old and he and I swam one mile to the island and back at Lake Garfield. This was a milestone for me because I am the only one of my grandpa’s five grandchildren to have done this with him. I remember him looking at me proudly in the water as he supported me every stroke of the way.
On January 9, 2022, my beloved grandfather died of cancer. To honor him, I want to carry on my grandpa’s legacy of strength and resilience by completing the same swim that we did together seven years ago. I am proud that this fundraiser will allow me to keep my grandfather’s memory alive while using our shared passion in the fight against cancer!
It would mean the world to me if you would support my swim. Click on the donate button above to particiapte. I will keep you posted about my progress!
Thank you so much,
Channing Epstein
