There are two kinds of people in this world. Those who set a goal to walk a marathon and those who don't. This year, both of us are in — the Vannucci sisters walking the NYC Marathon together!

For Molly, this is year two. For Katie, this is her first. And it's all Liz's doing.

When Molly's friend Liz — living with Stage 4 cancer — asked her to join her team in 2025, Molly said yes. You say yes because Liz never said no to anything cancer threw at her. Katie came to cheer Molly on that day, and was so moved by what she witnessed that she decided to join us this year. That's the kind of power this community has. That's the kind of person Liz was.

Molly walked her first NYC Marathon with Liz by her side — at least the first 13 miles, until Liz's body couldn't carry her further. Molly carried on with other members of "Team Check Your Colon," finishing in 9 hours and 8 minutes (she'll tell you she set a PR), while Liz was rushed to Memorial Sloan Kettering where doctors discovered a new metastasis had fractured her femur. We'll never forget the encouraging texts she was sending us to keep going as she lay in her hospital bed. That was Liz.

Liz was one of 2 teammates last year actively battling Stage 4 colon cancer. Tragically, both Liz (49) and Markham (41) will be cheering from heaven in 2026. We walk in their honor.

We walk with Fred's Team, the official running program of Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center — the same MSK that treated Molly's mom, dad, and nephew, and that gave Liz and Markham so many more miles.

We walk for Liz. For Markham. For Mom. For Dad. For Sonja. For Mike. For Erica. For Dina. For Dickie. For Mel. For Nick. For Tom. For JW. For Ellen. For Lauren. For Dave. For the way too many people we all know and love who have battled, are battling, or will battle cancer.

Our goal is $15,000 — every dollar goes directly to groundbreaking cancer research at MSK. If Liz could walk this marathon with Stage 4 cancer, Katie and Molly can walk it in her honor. This year, we're hoping to beat that 9:08!
