Kelly Byrnes
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page.
In November 2026, I'll be running the TCS New York City Marathon as a proud member of Fred's Team, the official running program of Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK). This marathon is about so much more than crossing a finish line—it's about honoring my mom and supporting the lifesaving research that gives hope to so many families.
Last year, my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer. What followed was a long journey marked by countless appointments, difficult decisions, and several surgeries, including a mastectomy. Through it all, she faced every challenge with remarkable strength, resilience, and grace. Today, I am incredibly grateful to say she is cancer-free.
My mom's journey showed me just how much strength, resilience, and hope it takes to face cancer. It also reinforced how essential continued research is to improving treatments and outcomes. We are incredibly grateful for her recovery, and I'm running to help create that same hope for other families.
For more than nine years, I've had the privilege of working at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. Every day, I see the extraordinary dedication of the physicians, nurses, researchers, and staff who are committed to advancing cancer care and improving the lives of patients and their families. Being part of this mission has always been meaningful to me, but after my mom's diagnosis, it took on an even deeper significance.
Every one of the 26.2 miles I run is dedicated to my mom, to everyone currently battling cancer, to survivors, to those we've lost, and to the loved ones who stand beside them. Running the New York City Marathon is my way of honoring my mom's incredible strength and resilience while helping fund the lifesaving research that will give more families the hope we were fortunate to have.
100% of Your Donation Supports Cancer Research
Fred's Team was founded in honor of New York City Marathon co-founder and MSK patient Fred Lebow. Today, 100% of every donation raised through Fred's Team goes directly to cancer research at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.
Your gift supports the brilliant doctors and scientists at MSK who are working every day to develop better treatments, improve outcomes, and bring us closer to a future where no family has to hear the words, "You have cancer."

Training for this marathon will be one of the biggest physical challenges I've ever taken on, but it pales in comparison to the strength my mom showed throughout her cancer journey. When training gets tough, I'll think of her courage—and remember exactly why I'm running.
If you're able to support my fundraising efforts, I'd be deeply grateful. Every donation, no matter the size, helps advance lifesaving cancer research and brings us one step closer to a world without cancer.
Thank you for supporting me, honoring my mom's journey, and investing in hope for countless other families. Together, we can make a lasting difference.
