In December 2022, my mother was diagnosed with colorectal cancer at the age of 45. The team at Memorial Sloan Kettering (MSK) took her under their care immediately and made her experience as comfortable as possible, even through the fear and emotional weight of a cancer diagnosis. Her experience opened my eyes to an urgent reality: a colorectal cancer diagnosis at 45 is no longer the anomaly it once was. Screening guidelines continue to lower the recommended age precisely because this cancer is increasingly being found in younger populations. I’m taking on the 2026 TCS New York City Marathon with Fred’s Team, the official running program of MSK, and my goal is to raise as much as I can to support groundbreaking colorectal cancer research at MSK.
