Charlotte Clark
We're raising money for critical cancer research at Memorial Sloan Kettering—where new discoveries are revolutionizing how cancer is diagnosed and treated.
Kim's Story
As you may know, in August 2022, Kim (our mom) was diagnosed with advanced (Stage 4) appendiceal cancer, an extremely rare and very aggressive cancer for which there is no FDA approved treatment, much less a cure. Since that time Kim has undergone ten rounds of aggressive chemotherapy as well as a 9.5 hour cytoreductive surgery (also with chemotherapy). While the surgery went well, unfortunately, the specific pathology of Kim's cancer all but guarantees that the cancer will recur. It's just a matter of time.
But there is HOPE!
Meanwhile, there is a very promising clinical trial in the works at Memorial Sloan Kettering -- one that could save countless lives. This new treatment aims to use radio-pharmaceuticals to target and kill appendix cancer (and colon cancer) cells specifically, without harming healthy cells. Much of the research has been done and the development of the radiopharmaceuticals is underway. All that is needed at this point is funding to support the clinical trial itself. To that end, our family has made a commitment to raise $1 million, which we understand is more or less what is needed to launch the trial. And because this research means so much to us, we will match any donations up to $500,000. That just leaves $500,000 to raise!
MSK Leads Cancer Care
Your tax deductible gift supports the best and brightest researchers in their work to outsmart cancer. These innovative thinkers are focused on fighting every form of the disease. The close collaboration between MSK's doctors and researchers is unique and one of its greatest strengths—ensuring that drugs and therapies developed in the lab can be moved quickly to the clinic.
We have been blown away by the care that Kim has received at MSK and are equally blown away by what we are learning about this new trial.
Together, we can join the leaders in cancer research by funding a future with better outcomes for people with BOTH appendix and colon cancer and their families—not just at MSK, but around the world. We sincerely hope that you will join us in supporting this incredibly important, potentially life-saving work!
Thank you so much!
