In Memory of Stephen F. Goldenberg

Stephen Fred Goldenberg, age 76, passed away surrounded by loved ones in the comfort of his home, overlooking the ocean, his favorite view, exactly as he wanted.

Born in the Bronx to Dr. Harold and Mrs. Lenore Goldenberg on September 8, 1946, as the oldest grandchild in the family, Stephen Goldenberg enjoyed the dream American childhood. He grew up surrounded by a large and close family, especially his Grandpa Ben who was a strong influence on his life.

Stephen attended Jericho High School, Boston University, Brooklyn Law School, and the University of Miami Masters Program in Taxation, where he made lifelong friends. He was a fifty year member of the Florida Bar and was listed in The Best Lawyers in America. Stephen held many leadership positions in the legal community, including President of North Broward / South Broward Estate Planning Council.

Stephen met his wife, Renee, briefly while attending Boston University. Upon each deciding Florida was their perfect home, they found each other again. They raised three children, Jason (Celina), Rachel (Ben), and Rebecca (James), and shared the joy of six grandchildren, Josh, Emily, Noah, Eli, Ben, and Micah. Partners in life and in the law, for over four decades together, Renee and Stephen completed their bucket list of seeing all the Wonders of the World, enjoyed time with family and friends, and contributed to the betterment of their community.

Stephen is survived by his wife, children, and grandchildren, sister, Caryn Goldenberg Carvo (Michael), brother-in-law, Harvey Mattel, and many close and extended family members.

The pancreatic cancer treatment from Dr. Eileen O’Reilly and her team at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York gave him an unexpected, and much appreciated, five extra years of life. Donations may be made in Stephen's memory to support pancreatic cancer research at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York, designating that 100% of contributions shall go to MSK in support of Dr. O'Reilly's cancer research so others can benefit from the same quality care that Stephen received.
