    Dr. Min Yuen Teo

I am a medical oncologist who specializes in caring for people with genitourinary malignancies, including bladder cancer, urinary tract cancer, prostate cancer, and testicular cancer. As part of a multidisciplinary team of surgeons, radiation oncologists, pathologists, and medical oncologists, I strive to provide optimal care for each patient’s unique situation. In addition to standard-of-care options, I participate in clinical trials to investigate new treatment options and strategies for people with genitourinary cancers in Manhattan and in Westchester.

My areas of research interest include the development of novel therapies for urothelial cancers, including both the bladder and upper urinary tract, especially in the peri-operative setting. I design and run clinical trials with novel therapeutics for patients who are not suitable for cisplatin-based chemotherapy with muscle-invasive bladder cancer, as well as those with urothelial cancers of the upper urinary tract, a rare subset of urothelial cancers. Collaborating with other scientists at MSK, our goals are to better understand the distinct genetic and molecular changes that occur in urothelial cancers, how these changes may interact and predict the effectiveness of treatment, and how the cancer’s molecular and genetic makeup may change overtime due to exposure to chemotherapy or other systemic therapies. I also research biomarkers in the form of liquid biopsies for urothelial cancers. My colleagues and I are actively investigating if circulating fragments of cancer DNA in the blood and urine of patients with urothelial cancers may help us study the cancer in real time. My research has been recognized by the Conquer Cancer Foundation of the American Society of Clinical Oncology.
