Toni Storz
I am raising money to support cancer research and care at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK) in memory of my mom Linda Russo. Her care at MSK for peritoneal Cancer was exceptional. Her Dr William Tew and his oncology team was a constant source of hope, optimism, compassion and inspiration. I think in the 5 years of sometimes weekly visits she always left there feeling hopeful and loved. They gave her 5 more years of life to celebrate with her family. She was able to see her first grandchild get married, another get engaged, five grandchildren accepted into great colleges to pursue their dreams and just 2 months ago her 1st great granddaughter was born.
She was a fighter and extremely strong. She faced extreme challenges with grace, things that would make other people crumble. Ultimately it was something else that caused her passing NOT cancer. MSK and Dr Tew maintained that for her for over 5 years. I am grateful for Dr Tew and his team especially Katy. I am also grateful for the Chemo nurses in the 6th floor chemo suite who week after week treated her with compassion and like family. I owe so much to MSK. If you sent a card or flowers, or food to us, I so appreciate it but if you haven't remembered her in some way I encourage you to give a small gift in her name. Doesnt matter how big or how small. This hospital and these doctors and nurses should be acknowledged for their knowledge and compassion.
With expertise in over 400 cancer types and nearly 2,000 clinical trials underway at a given time, MSK is making a massive difference in the lives of people everywhere with cancer. MSK physician-scientists are committed to discovering new ways to prevent, detect, treat, and cure all forms of the disease.
Donors Fuel Progress
When you give to MSK, you become part of a community that is working to develop new ways to prevent, treat, and cure cancer, from the most common to the rarest. Whether donors give to honor a friend or family member, to fuel the next breakthrough, or to make the world a better place, everyone in our community is bound together by hope, optimism, and an unrelenting drive toward impact.
Your philanthropy accelerates innovation, allowing MSK physician-scientists to pursue bold ideas and tackle the biggest challenges in cancer research and care. This work ultimately leads to discoveries — including new cancer drugs and other treatments — that improve the lives of people with cancer at MSK and around the world.
