Ella Nakum
Hi my name is Ella Nakum and I'm raising money for critical cancer research at Memorial Sloan Kettering—where new discoveries are revolutionizing how cancer is diagnosed and treated. Join me in making a difference by donating today!
My Personal Experience
I have been participating in spreading awareness and fundraising for this cause for over 9 years and am on the student board of Kids Walk For MSK Kids with Cancer.
Kids Walk raises funds for Pediatric cancer research in partnership with Memorial Sloane Kettering Cancer Center and brings awareness to the issues facing childhood cancer patients.
About 10 years ago my childhood friend was diagnosed with Leukemia. She spent close to two years in and out of Memorial Sloane Cancer Center. Fortunately she beat the disease and is now in full remission. However, the treatment took a large toll on her body and long term health. That's when I learned that since pediatric cancers are more rare than adult cancers, there are no specific treatments available for kids. Because of that fact, doctors have to figure out individual dosing and use medications which are not meant for kids' growing bodies. The treatments are very harsh and the after effects are terrible. MSK is working with pharmaceutical companies and dna experts to find better therapies that can work on kids and they are succeeding. Kids Walk helps provide funding so that MSK can continue this research and continue to help cancer patients.
Why Donate
Your gift supports the best and brightest researchers in their work to outsmart cancer. These innovative thinkers are focused on fighting every form of the disease. The close collaboration between MSK's doctors and researchers is unique and one of its greatest strengths—ensuring that drugs and therapies developed in the lab can be moved quickly to the clinic.
Together, we can join the leaders in cancer research by funding a future with better outcomes for people with cancer and their families—not just at MSK, but around the world.
Every dollar brings more hope. Thank you!
