In Memory of Susan L. Platt

Susan "Suz" L Platt, 76, of New City, NY, passed away on August 13, 2023 surrounded by her family.

Beloved wife to Frank, mother to Seth (and wife Ellen), Craig (and wife Kaesha), grandmother to Seth and Ellen’s children Aria and Silas, sister to Jerome Markowitz (and wife Maria and her mother Mary), Aunt to Philip Markowitz (and wife Ryoko), sister-in-law to Elise Platt, sister to Mark Gartenfeld, aunt to Alex and Greg Gartenfeld, sister to the late Ellen Gartenfeld and the late Joan Swartz and aunt and great aunt to the Massachusetts Gartenfeld/Swartz family.

Susan, Suz, Suzy or Mom was born in Brooklyn, NY to Philip Markowitz and Celia Drucker. She was raised in West Hempstead, NY and Queens, NY. She attended Rider College where she met her husband, Frank. They were married in 1969 at Terrace on the Park, Queens NY and welcomed their children Seth in 1974 and Craig in 1977.

Suz worked in retail, managing and later owning a number of stores. She loved music, playing sports, her children, grandchildren, nephews, chocolate, Las Vegas and playing the slots. She was loving to every person she met and an incredible wife and amazing mother.

We will always remember her sense of humor, compassion, resiliency and willingness to fight for what she believed.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations in Susan Platt’s memory to support Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center Bergen Nursing Department . Suz was so appreciative of the nursing she received. Nurses really are heroes. Your gift will fund nursing program which aims to provide exceptional care and support for patients like Suz.
