In January 2019 our family dealt with the most significant challenge that we had ever faced -- my father's cancer diagnosis. What was worse, is that we felt like we were dealing with the unknown, a cancer that we knew very little about, cholangiocarcinoma. Cholangiocarcinoma is a rare, deadly and growing cancer, with 8,000 cases per year in the US and just a 2% 5 year median survival for those with late stage detection (which is most people).

Unfortunately, just a short 8 months after the diagnosis, we lost our dad. We tried to make as many memories as possible amidst his grueling chemo treatments and hospital visits. His team at MSK provided wonderful care and demonstrated incredible empathy as he was on this challenging journey. 

Dad's wishes were for us to continue his legacy of contributing to the community and making the world a better place, and we have chosen to raise money for Cholangiocarcinoma research in his honor to help provide better outcomes for those who go down this path in the future.
