Hello - This is Lori. 

Although I’m no longer with you in person, I am here in spirit through this giving page.

I experienced a lot during my 7-year battle with ovarian cancer, including standard treatment options, clinical trials, side effects, and the emotional toll that cancer takes on everyone it touches. Above all, I was blessed with having the most amazing family and friends as well as the finest care in the best hospital delivered by my team of dedicated doctors and nurses who became like my extended family.

But during my battle, I also learned about the stresses that patients and their families endure financially when the high medical costs for treatment compete with the costs of everyday living and caring. I wanted to do something that would, in a small way, ease the burden for some of the families that face this dilemma.

This endowed “Lori Cohen Varma Memorial Fund” at the Sloan Kettering Cancer Center reflects my wishes and my family’s commitment to take a tangible step to help ease those financial burdens for families with gynecological cancers.
