Dear Friends, Family, and Supporters,

My incredible wife is taking on the TCS New York City Marathon to give back to the place that saved her life. She is running for Fred’s Team, where 100% of all donations go directly to Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK) to fund life-saving cancer research. Our goal is to raise $5,000, and we need your help to get there.

This run is deeply personal for our family. My wife is a two-time cancer survivor.

Her first battle was in 1999 with thyroid cancer. After undergoing surgery and radiation, she beat it and was cured. For years, life went on. We raised our four beautiful children—two girls and two boys—and she continued her dedicated, 35-year career at her company.

Then, in late 2018, a new battle began. She came home from work feeling like she had the flu or a stomach bug. When she didn't get better, we went to the ER. What we thought was appendicitis turned out to be a blockage. A biopsy revealed our worst fear: a Neuroendocrine Tumor (NET).

We were blessed to be referred to Dr. Garcia-Aguilar at Memorial Sloan Kettering. After she recovered from an initial emergency procedure, Dr. Garcia-Aguilar and the extraordinary MSK team performed a 3-to-4-hour surgery to remove the tumor and part of her colon. Thanks to their precision and care, the cancer had not metastasized.

She came home, had a long but successful recovery. Then came the agonizing wait for yearly checkups. 2019: Cancer Free. 2020: Cancer Free. Every single year for five years, the tests came back clear. Today, she is officially discharged from her oncology follow-ups—completely cancer-free.

Now, in 2026, she wants to run 26.2 miles to thank the brilliant doctors, nurses, and staff at MSK who brought her back to us. Our four grown children and I have watched this amazing woman conquer every obstacle put in front of her with grace and strength.
