Why I Am Running
This November, I'll be running the TCS New York City Marathon with Fred's Team in support of Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center's breast cancer research.

This isn't just a marathon for me, it's a celebration of life, resilience, and the care that made my future possible.

This June marked two years since I completed active treatment for breast cancer. When I was diagnosed, I found myself somewhere I never expected to be: a patient at Memorial Sloan Kettering. Thanks to the exceptional care I received and the ongoing advancements in research, I'm training for 26.2 miles.

But this journey is bigger than my story. I'm running as a survivor, and in memory of my dearest friend, Kemi Banwo, who was diagnosed with breast cancer in her twenties; my aunty Kehinde Akinsiku; and Celine Klu Amon, mother of one of my dearest friends. Their strength and memory will be with me every step. I'm also running for everyone facing a breast cancer diagnosis, those in treatment, those living beyond it, those we've lost and the families and friends who walk this journey alongside us.

My goal is to raise $40,000 for breast cancer research through Memorial Sloan Kettering. Research gives families more time, creates better treatments, and offers hope. I'm living proof that this work changes lives.
