Blades Against Cancer 2026
Hello,
My name is Ryan Amendola, and I’m organizing my fourth annual skate-a-thon to raise money for Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK) in memory of my grandma, Patty Piegaro.
My grandma was an amazing person. She loved everyone she met, took care of me and my brother, and was a great cook. I especially miss her chocolate chip cookies. My brother and I used to sneak fruit from her fruit bowl, and she’d call us “fruit bats.” She was always there when we wanted to go places she would come with us. Grandma was generous and loving.
She passed away in 2021 after fighting lung cancer, and she never got to see me skate. I want to make her proud and help other kids not lose their grandparents to cancer. MSK took great care of her, and I want to give back.
On Saturday, August 1, at 4:00 PM, I’ll be skating 11 miles at Montclair State’s Ice Arena. I’d be grateful if you would sponsor my skate. You’re also welcome to join me on the ice when you donate rental skates are included if you decide to come. Thank you so much for your support!
