At the Intersection of Science and Nature

Creativity has always been how I make sense of the world. Photography gives me a way to slow time, to notice patterns and moments that might otherwise pass unseen. Alongside that creative instinct, I have a deep interest in science and psychology, which are fields that seek to understand how the body and mind work and how people adapt and heal.

That curiosity became personal in 2020, when my father was diagnosed with brain cancer. The experience was frightening and overwhelming, but it also opened my eyes to the amazing power of medicine. Watching him undergo brain surgery and chemotherapy revealed the fragility of the human body and also the precision and compassion behind medical care. It solidified my desire to study biology and psychology on a pre-med track, so I can explore how science can meaningfully improve lives.

This project brings those passions together. Living near Prospect Park in Brooklyn, I have spent months photographing the rhythms within the park: trees, animals, strangers, sports, and stillness. I have documented the park across seasons, from snow-filled winter days to spring-time recreation, documenting how life persists and renews itself over time.

Ultimately, my project culminates in a community fundraiser print sale, bringing together neighbors and supporters around a shared cause. All proceeds from the sale will be donated to Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center to support cancer research and patient care. At its core, my initiative is about community. It is about giving back and creating meaningful engagements and spaces to help people affected by cancer.
